Family Connections - Family Preservation Services

Department of Health and Welfare Service
Family Preservation staff meet in family homes 1 to 3 times a week for 1 to 6 months during the daytime, in the evenings and on weekends, whatever works best for the family.  We assist families to develop and complete their goals in order to establish stability for their children and reduce problem behaviors.  Families are often involved with a variety of systems and staff members ensure services are coordinated.  In addition, our staff connect families to long-term support systems and community resources.  Our program provides families with 24-hour on-call crisis intervention and problem solving.

How Are Families Referred?
Family Connections contracts with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare to provide Family Preservation Services to referred families. At the present time, Family Connections provides this service in Region III (Adams, Canyon, Gem, Owyhee, Payette and Washington Counties) & Region IV (Ada, Boise, Elmore and Valley Counties).


Department of Juvenile of Corrections Service
Family Connections currently provides services to families referred by the Department of Juvenile Corrections.  Family Preservation Services staff meet in family homes 1 to 3 times a week for up to 90 days during the daytime, in the evenings and on weekends, whatever works best for the family.  We are assist families in developing and completing their goals in order to establish permanency for their adolescents involved in the juvenile corrections system.  During the period of intervention, our professionals can support families with housing, food, transportation, employment, financial, medical, substance abuse, parenting, emotional health, family relationships, family/community safety and reunification issues.  In addition, Family Connections' staff connects families with long-term support systems and community resources.  We provide families with 24-hour on-call crisis intervention and problem solving. 

How Are Families Referred?
Family Connections contracts with the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections to provide Family Preservation Services to referred families. Often youth are referred by their Juvenile Probation Officer, Department of Juvenile Corrections Social Worker or Clinician.  At the present time, Family Connections provides this service in District III (Adams, Canyon, Gem, Owyhee, Payette and Washington Counties) & District IV (Ada, Boise, Elmore and Valley Counties).  In addition, Family Connections has staff available to provide Family Preservation services in District V (Blaine, Camas, Cassia, Gooding, Jerome, Lincoln, Minidoka and Twin Falls Counties).
